Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shakar, an American and British sitar artist. She is the youngest female and was the first person to be awarded the British House of Commons shield. Anoushka shankar is one of the rising stars of India's sitar. She is a student and daughter of the legendary Ravi Shankar. Born in London in 1982 and spent her early years shuttling to London as well as New Delhi. At the age of 13 the first time she performed in New Delhi took place. Then she moved in Encinitas CA, where she obtained her High School diploma with honors in 1999. Anouskha continues to have a bright career in recording and performing even though she's only a teenager. She has performed with her father on stage for many years. She made Anourag her first album solo in 1998. The Grammy Award-winning Live at Carnegie Hall was released two years later than her first solo album. Apart from performing in every major venue, she also is a stage performer for a lengthy time. Anoushka Shankar's work isn't only limited to the music industry. Bapi The Love of My Live is her 2002 novel, and was a tribute to Ravi Shankar. In addition, she has appeared in films in 2003 she acted in the film Dance Like a Man where she portrays the role of a teenage Bharat Natyam performer. Anoushka Shankar was born and raised in England and spent much of her youth living between London and Delhi after which she moved to California where she attended high school. When she was 9 she began her studies in music with her father. The first time she performed on the Sitar took place at her 75th Birthday celebration in Delhi in the year following. Anoushka has gained lots of knowledge by traveling around the globe with her dad. She appeared in Carnegie Hall in her teenage period, as well as recorded for George Harrison's WOMAD Festival. She was the youngest and sole female to receive the House of Commons Shield awarded by British Parliament for her artistry and musicianship as an outstanding musician from music in Asian Arts.
